Read no evil a.k.a Wilayah Kutu Reading Session

.. then the batteries conked out. I really need to get new batteries, or better still, a new camera. Hmhh.
-------
When : Saturday 19th March, 2005
Where : Darling Muse Art Gallery, Jalan Bukit Pantai
Who : Authors of "Wilayah Kutu"
What : Their own stories lah
Why? : Sampler session to promote a soon-to-be-in-the-market "Wilayah Kutu", an anthology of short stories in Bahasa Malaysia, alternative reading for the masses.

We arrived a bit late, like, half an hour late so we missed the first two readings.

At first I was thinking "Ey, maybe the stories are not meant to be read out loud, sounded rather boring, but when Ruhayat X started his session with "Tapi aku hensem!", and it became a lotttt better. The more attention-grabbing ones were the story about a guy ("Tapi... aku hensem!") who wasn't allowed to vote for having registered at two places and another about a cross-dressing husband.

Natives of Langkawi

I've always been fascinated by other creatures.

No matter how big, or how small, learning where they stand in the great food chain or discovering some unheard-of uses of various animal parts or functions taught me that God created everything for a reason.

Actually I wanted to prove my point with an actual example, but can't think of one right now-lah. So pelupa, I am. Hehe.

The Langs of Langkawi

Local folklore has it that Langkawi derived its name from the eagle or "helang" as it is known in the Malay language. "Lang" for short and in old Malay, "kawi" denotes reddish brown; hence, Langkawi simply means reddish brown eagle. Where once, a group of 99 islands lay under a curse of a wrongly accused princess, there is today a new beginning, a new light, and as result a new budding and thriving holiday hideaway. The Langkawi you see today has been transformed almost beyond recognition. This is the legendary island where now major international businessmen meet to form new ventures and conclude deals whilst relaxing. The curse that lasted for seven generations can surely be said to have been lifted.
